The HVAC-R Sector Strategy Workshop, where the HVAC-R Exporters Association (ISIB) determined the road map of the Turkish HVAC-R Sector for 2023, discussed the strategy and economic developments and shared the important administrative and commercial developments experienced during the year with its members, was held at Antalya Cornelia Diamond Hotel between November 28-29, 2022. During the workshop program, the ISIB Export Leaders Award Ceremony was held, and the ranking companies were awarded.
At the workshop hosted by ISIB Chairman Mehmet Şanal with the participation of more than 200 sector stakeholders, new generation export models and supports, the effects of current economic developments on the sector, and the issues in the sector strategy document for 2023 were discussed.
In the workshop where economist Fatih Keresteci shared the current economic situation and expectations with the participants, a commemorative ceremony was held for Metin Duruk, Vice Chairman of the ISIB Board of Directors, who passed away last month.
In his opening speech of the workshop, Mehmet Şanal, Chairman of the ISIB Board of Directors, stated that ISIB has become the most important stakeholder of the sector exporters in the fields of strategy marketing, sales, and communication and added: “The World HVAC-R market has grown by 13.23 percent in the last four-year period and reached 570 billion dollars. The Turkish HVAC-R sector grew by 43 percent during this period. Analyzing the sub-groups of the sector, while the world grew by 11 percent in Heating Systems and Equipment, we grew by 32 percent. While the world grew by 15 percent in Cooling Systems and Equipment, we recorded a growth of 39 percent. While the world grew by 20.5 percent in Ventilation Systems and Equipment, we achieved a growth of 67 percent. While the world grew by 12.5 percent in Air Conditioning Systems and Components, we grew by 80 percent. While the world grew by 10 percent in Installation Systems and Elements, we grew by 40 percent. While the world grew by 10 percent in Insulation Systems and Elements, we grew by 38 percent. These results indicate that we are organized as a sector, that we are moving forward with a specific strategy, and that all the stakeholders in the sector are putting in the effort.
As the Turkish HVAC-R sector, our main goal is to get a share of 1.5 percent of the world market and to be a sector that generates foreign trade surplus. We are working hard towards this goal. This year we reached an import-export coverage ratio of 93.5 percent despite all kinds of setbacks. As a sector, our share in the world was 1.37 percent. Unit price per kilogram in the sector rose to USD 5.23. We are the 11th largest sector in Turkey as per the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly. Our sector exports exceeded 6 billion dollars as of the end of November. We anticipate that we will reach an export volume of 6.8 billion dollars at the end of the year.
In the first 11 months of 2022, we participated in 21 different international exhibitions for our exporters with our national participation and info booth models and organized Sectoral Trade delegations to Uzbekistan, Brazil, Argentina, and Hungary. We also organized separate procurement delegations for delegations from North African countries and Balkan Countries. In July, Turkey became the Partner Country at the Mostra Convegno Expocomfort Exhibition held in Milan, one of the most important exhibitions of our sector, upon the initiatives of our Association. A total of 139 exporter companies participated in the exhibition. We conducted sponsorship and advertising practices. We are moving forward vigorously in coordination with all stakeholders of the sector.
Informing about the Sector Strategy Workshop, Şanal noted that they are implementing an efficient and effective sales and marketing strategy in global markets with all stakeholders, and added:
“We will start 2023 stronger by updating and developing our strategy document with 16 separate workgroups we have established within ISIB. We are also undertaking significant initiatives on the effects of the European Union’s carbon regulation mechanism to be implemented at the border of our sector. We are collaborating to ensure that our sector is prepared for this period.”
ISIB Awarded the Most Exporting Companies of 2021
At the final session of the workshop, ISIB awarded the companies that played an effective role in the export market and realized the highest exports in 2021.
In his speech at the award ceremony, Mr. Şanal stated that all the companies that make up the Union are striving for the development and growth of Turkey with all their strength and added: “The Turkish HVAC-R sector is taking firm steps towards becoming one of the leading export sectors. In 2021, our companies, which realized the most exports in 21 categories, won this year’s awards with their effective commercial and marketing management. We acknowledge and witness that the members of our association who did not receive an award are also working with all their might. We have no doubt that they will make our country proud with their achievements in the coming years.”
