HVAC-R Exporters Association (ISIB) participated as a platinum sponsor in the International Mechtalks Conference held at Istanbul Mandarin Oriental Hotel on November 24.
Turkish Society of HVAC and Sanitary Engineers (TTMD), The Association of Mechanical Contractors (MTMD), and Borusan Mannesmann hosted the event under the title of ” Proper, Clean, Safe and Efficient Energy for a Livable World, If Not Now, When?”, and the event was attended by executives and professionals from organizations, associations, and companies in the Turkish HVAC-R sector.
Mehmet Şanal, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ISIB, who delivered the opening speech of the session titled “Zero Energy Building Management” of the event organized for the second time this year, stated that the HVAC-R Exporters Association is the largest stakeholder of the sector exporters on a global scale and has an active role in carrying out many activities ranging from marketing to sales, from communication to the establishment of business networks.
Noting that the European Union is a primary market for our exporters in the coming period, Şanal added that they are in the process of significant efforts for sustainability and the European Green Deal. In his speech, Şanal stated the following: “Although the HVAC-R sector is not among the priority sectors, especially in terms of the Carbon Regulation Mechanism at the Border, we discussed the urgent need to take a position before all stakeholders. We have taken initiatives in this regard. Our requests for the establishment of a Specialized Working Group for the HVAC-R Sector within the scope of the Green Deal Action Plan were deemed appropriate by the Ministry of Trade. Our sector realizes production in accordance with energy efficiency. From this day forth, low-emission production needs to become widespread in the sector. With the Nationally Determined Contribution during COP27, Turkey raised its target from 21 percent in 2015 to a 41 percent reduction for 2030. Our companies in the sector are currently preparing to change their production models in this direction.”
Emphasizing that it is also important for the state to support the heat pump and its production in order for energy efficiency and green energy use to become widespread, Şanal concluded his speech by stating that legislative regulations on carbon/carbon trading are also anticipated in the near future.
