Turkish HVAC&R Exporters’ Association (İSİB) organized a digital trade delegation visit to three important countries of South America, namely Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay, on 24-27 August 2021. 120 meetings took place as part of the organization, where 14 Turkish and 46 foreign companies attended.
The digital trade delegation to Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay started off with an information meeting on 23 August 2021 with the participation of Mr. İsmail Gülle, President of Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), Mr. Mehmet Şanal, President of İSİB Board of Directors, Mr. Biray Kuş, Counsellor of Commerce to Buenos Aires, Mr. Alper Avdel, Member of İSİB Board of Directors and Head of the Delegation, and representatives of the participating companies.
Turkish companies held a total of 120 business meetings on Zoom with representatives of 46 HVAC&R companies that are active in the importing, construction and contracting, and consultancy services based in Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Alper Avdel, Member of İSİB Board of Directors and Head of the Delegation, stated that despite a slight decrease in 2020 due to the pandemic, Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay recorded an import volume of USD 60 billion. Mr. Avdel also made the following remarks: “Turkish industry accounts for 0,5% of the total imports of these three countries with an export volume of USD 300 million. The export performance of Turkish HVAC&R sector here is above the average value of Turkish companies, accounting to 1%. The HVAC&R sector in these three companies is dominated by a handful of countries because of the continent’s geographical location, which is far from Europe and Turkey. We have generally not observed anything negative regarding the Turkish products. We firmly believe that if we follow correct strategies, our exporters have a high chance of realizing their potential in these markets. Our objective in organizing the digital trade delegation visit to these three countries was to offer new perspectives to our exporters as part of İSİB’s ongoing strategy to increase Turkey’s exports in countries that are not in close vicinity of our country. The delegation has received very positive feedbacks in the meetings, and we believe that this organization will help our exporters establish a strong position in the Latin American market. Based on the feedback of our importer companies, we will continue the digital and physical trade delegation visits in other locations as well.”
